NL63 Beat Update – Criminal Behaviour Order Issued
The NL63 beat team has recently secured a significant outcome following months of close partnership work with local shops and retail staff across the Shelthorpe area. After persistent engagement, evidence‑gathering and collaboration with businesses, a prolific shoplifter has now been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) lasting three years.
This individual has been responsible for numerous theft offences targeting supermarkets and convenience stores in Shelthorpe, causing repeated financial loss to businesses and unnecessary concern to staff and customers. The pattern of offending has also placed additional demand on local officers who have worked tirelessly to respond promptly to incidents, gather statements, review CCTV and build a strong case for longer‑term prevention measures.
A CBO is a tool used by the courts to help protect communities from individuals whose behaviour has had a persistent and negative impact. In this case, the order places strict conditions on the offender’s behaviour, helping to prevent further thefts and giving local retailers greater reassurance. Any breach of the CBO can result in further arrest and prosecution, providing an additional layer of accountability.
The NL63 team hopes this outcome will lead to a noticeable reduction in retail thefts across the area. Officers will continue high‑visibility patrols, maintain close communication with shop staff and act swiftly on any reports of suspicious or repeat offending.
The team remains committed to tackling shop theft, supporting victims, and ensuring offenders are held to account. Anyone with concerns about crime in the area is encouraged to speak to a member of the beat team or report information through the usual channels. | ||
